Brief Guide to the Spanish Quiniela
The Spanish Quiniela is a very popular form of sports betting in Spain, which is based on the prediction of soccer match results. The form of play consists of a list of soccer matches from different leagues and competitions, both national and international.
In each day of Quiniela, players must make their predictions on a total of 15 soccer matches. In the case of the first 14 matches, bettors must select the final result of each match according to 3 possible options: victory of the home team (1), draw (X) or victory of the away team (2).
On the other hand, in the last match of the table, known as the Full 15, bettors must indicate the exact result of the match in number of goals for each team: 0, 1, 2 or More. The Full 15 is only used to define the winner of the Quiniela's first prize. To win the first prize, it is necessary to guess the results of the 14 games plus the Full 15. However, if the player does not guess any of the 14 previous games, the Full 15 does not add up to the rest of the prize categories.
Each Quiniela ticket allows the player to complete up to 8 different bets for the first 14 games. However, the Full 15 always remains the same for all bets on the ticket. In addition to this classic way of playing, called single bets, more experienced bettors can also opt for different ways of playing, such as multiple, reduced and conditional bets, which allow many more bets to be played at the same time.
Example of a Quiniela ticket with 4 bets:
In total, there are 7 prize categories in the Quiniela:
Category | Number of hits |
1st Prize | 14 games + Full 15 |
2nd Prize | 14 games |
3rd Prize | 13 games |
4th Prize | 12 games |
5th Prize | 11 games |
6th Prize | 10 games |
Pick8 | 8 games |
The Pick8 is an additional game that bettors can include in their bet (with an additional cost) and that allows them to select 8 of the 14 total matches (only of the matches played in the first bet). This way, if you guess correctly in the 8 selected matches, you can win this extra prize, which has a lower level of difficulty in relation to the rest of the prize categories due to the lower number of matches needed to win.
