Mega-Sena da Virada 2022 ticket sales begin with the largest prize in its history

Every December 31, Brazilians prepare with expectation not only to welcome the new year, but also to know the winning numbers of the biggest lottery jackpot in Brazil.

The special edition of Mega-Sena da Virada, or simply Mega da Virada, is played every year on the last day of the year, being the draw where the biggest prizes in the country are distributed, so it has already become a tradition shared in almost every home.

This year, the Mega-Sena lottery has announced that the prize for the Mega da Virada 2022 drawing will be the biggest so far: a prize of 450 million reais, which is equivalent to approximately US$ 85 million. The sale of tickets will start next Wednesday, November 16, so, from that date on, players from all over the world will be able to start buying their bets.

How to play Mega-Sena da Virada?

Mega da Virada special edition is played just like any other Mega-Sena weekly drawing. To participate, players must match the 6 winning numbers (from 1 to 60) that are chosen randomly on the day of the drawing.

As in all other draws throughout the year, players have the possibility of placing single bets (selecting only 6 numbers) or multiple bets, where they can choose more than 6 numbers up to a maximum of 15, which increases the odds of matching the winning numbers.

How to win the Mega da Virada jackpot?

Just like the regular Mega-Sena drawings, Mega da Virada is divided into 3 prize categories: Sena (6 correct numbers), Quina (5 correct numbers) and Quadra (4 correct numbers). Thus, at least matching 4 of the 6 numbers it is possible to win a prize.

In Mega da Virada, the first prize, Sena, accumulates 62% of the total prize, which this year amounts to the sum of 450 million reais. The other prizes, Quina and Quadra, accumulate 19% each.

Although in the weekly Mega-Sena drawings, if no one matches the 6 numbers of the first prize, it is accumulated for the next drawing, the great attraction of Mega-Sena da Virada, besides the amount of the prize, is that it is almost certain that there will be a winner that day. This happens because, if no one matches the 6 Sena numbers, the prize goes to the winners of the second prize (Quina) or even the third prize (Quadra), so it is almost guaranteed that the prize will be won.

When can Mega da Virada 2022 tickets be purchased?

The tickets will start to be marketed from Wednesday, November 16. However, this does not mean that the rest of the weekly draws will be suspended until December 31. The ordinary Mega-Sena draws will continue to be carried out normally and with their own prizes, in parallel to the sale of Mega-Sena da Virada tickets.

It is important to note that your Mega-Sena weekly draw tickets do not participate in the Mega da Virada draw, nor vice versa.

How much does the Mega-Sena da Virada jackpot pays?

According to Caixa Lotteries, whoever wins the most millionaire prize in Brazil, would have enough money to buy up to 50 mansions of 9 million reais each, up to 132 Ferraris of 3.4 million reais each, and up to almost 6 thousand iPhone 14s.
