Find out about this week\'s Mega-Sena drawing schedule and dates changes.

*This article has been modified on September 6th due to later corrections in the Loterias Caixa draw schedules for Saturday, September 9th*.

------

As of Tuesday, August 22, Mega-Sena altered the dates of its drawings in order to add an additional drawing to its weekly calendar. So, while Mega-Sena draws were previously held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, twice a week, as of August 22 Mega-Sena draws are now held 3 times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

However, this week Mega-Sena will not hold its usual Thursday drawing. This is due to the fact that Thursday, September 7, is Brazil's Independence Day holiday. In Brazil, lottery drawings that coincide with a national holiday usually have to modify their schedule, since it is customary in the country not to hold lottery drawings on holidays.

Will the Mega-Sena draw be moved to another date during the week? No, there will be no date changes or adjustments to the calendar. There will simply be no Mega-Sena or other Brazilian lottery drawings this Thursday, so after the drawing on Tuesday, September 5, the next drawing will be held on Saturday, September 9.

This suspension of dates will not affect players who have purchased subscriptions or consecutive draws for Mega-Sena, since this draw has not been taken into account when enabling ticket sales.

Changes to the Mega-Sena draw schedule for Saturday, September 9

This Saturday, September 9, will coincide with the celebration of one of the most important special drawings in Brazil: Lotofácil da Independência. This draw, carried out by the Lotofácil lottery, is held once a year to celebrate Brazil's Independence Day. This year, the date of the special draw has been set for this Saturday, at 20:00 Brazilian time.

The celebration of this special draw, however, will disrupt the rest of the Brazilian lottery draws that are usually held on Saturday. As the Lotofácil da Independência draw will be held exceptionally on Saturday at 8:00 p.m., the schedules of some of the Saturday draws have been changed so as not to coincide with the special Lotofácil draw, namely Quina, Timemania, Dia de Sorte and +Milionária.

Although initially Loterías Caixa announced that the Mega-Sena lottery schedule would also be altered, on September 6 the change was rectified. Finally, Mega-Sena will not be affected by the special draw of Lotofácil da Independência, so on Saturday it will be held at its usual time of 20:00 hours (Brazilian time) and the closing of sales for that day's draw will take place as usual at 19:00 hours.
