Superenalotto: Here's how the 2024 draw calendar will look like

Superenalotto, the Italian jewel: this lottery has been winning the hearts (and pockets) of Italians since 1997, becoming today one of the most important lotteries in Europe and the world. Currently, it holds the record for the largest jackpot won in a European lottery with the incredible figure of 371 million euros drawn on February 16, 2023, surpassing even the great European lottery Euromillions.

Its popularity is such that today people from all over the world beyond Italy's borders seek to participate in its draws - even celebrities! That's right: celebrities such as actor George Clooney, pop queen Madonna and hotel chain heiress Paris Hilton are known to have bought bets to participate in its millionaire draws.

But it is not always easy to keep track of its draws: Superenalotto is a lottery that sometimes adds additional draws to celebrate special dates or raise funds for certain social causes, and also alters its drawing calendar when they coincide with national holidays. This 2024, moreover, the Italian lottery has just announced the addition of a new additional draw every week.

New Superenalotto draw every Friday

In mid-2023, starting on Friday, July 7, Superenalotto announced the addition of a new weekly draw every Friday, extending up to and including Friday, December 25. The purpose of this additional draw was to allocate all the tax revenues collected from this draw to a fund for emergency interventions in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, affected by a series of floods in May 2023, which caused various devastations in the region.

In addition, all proceeds from this additional draw were to be donated in full to the Emilia-Romagna Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection and to projects and initiatives in favor of the affected communities.

Initially, Superenalotto had announced that this draw would cease to be held as of Friday, December 25, from which date it would return to the previous system of 3 weekly draws every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

However, the Italian government has just approved in the last few days a decree that will allow the Italian lottery to maintain the fourth Superenalotto draw through 2024. After the success obtained by the participations in the additional Friday draw during 2023, it has finally been decided to keep it on a fixed basis during this year. In addition, the proceeds from this fourth weekly draw will be permanently allocated to the National Emergency Fund.

Therefore, starting on Friday, January 12, the fourth weekly Superenalotto drawing on Fridays will return. Thus, during 2024 the Italian lottery will have 4 drawings every week, every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

But, although the Friday draw will be aimed at raising funds for the National Emergency Fund, players should know that it will not affect them in any way in their bets, since this additional draw will be introduced as one more in the calendar, participating for the same accumulated prizes and with the same conditions and prices as the rest of the draws of the week.

Superenalotto 2024 Drawing Calendar

With this new draw, Superenalotto will have 4 weekly draws throughout 2024, on the following days of the week:

• Tuesday
• Thursday
• Fridays (proceeds destined to the National Emergency Fund)
• Saturday

However, this schedule may be affected during some specific days due to the coincidence with national holidays in the country. In Italy, by decree, lottery drawings are not held on national holidays, so these drawings are rescheduled for other dates.
For the moment, these are the dates that Superenalotto has already announced that they will alter their drawings. However, please note that this rescheduling may be subject to further modifications if necessary.
